Can someone that has followed cmp help me understand this company more, in terms of future growth in both de-icing and fertilizer. I am doing my own researching, but interested in other's point of view. Looks like most of the marketshare is in the midwest, small portion of CA, and most of the UK. Does cmp have room to expand to other parts of the US, CA, and internationally? It seems that there are many other areas in the world that could use their products! Also, do they have any big competitors that could take away marketshare from them? How are they growing so fast.....increase in salt prices or expanding their markets? Both? Thanks!!
I have been a holder since 5/04. They are growing slow and stock price is up because of SOP demand world wide is up. So they are expanding/increasing mine production. So is the competition like Cargill and other chemical cos with salt/sop. they have debt too, lingering from the spinoff.I think it is overvalued here, since my cost is $18, I don't worry much but collect the 10% yield on my original money. Plus, stock was added recently to S&P midcap index. If I looked at it today, I would buy it only IF M&A possibility down the road. It does not meet my criteria today.
I'm surprised they haven't done a split. Not that it means anything!
