  • Well, at least they have apparently hired more real estate people. They say they are more comfortable going into markets which will support only one store, which means they can expand in their current areas, which obviously makes them more comfortable, and is cheaper to supply. Target is mid-30's for store openings, gross, in 2003, absent that elusive multiple site deal. In reviewing my notes, one good thing about their options - they are spread out, and not mostly limited to the top execs. Earnings were great.

    • (2) more new Real Estate people I think he said, who are starting to show results.

Home decorating (high margin) outlook strong.

Strong sales of new generation sewing machines and kids machines showing growing interest in quilting and sewing.

New format stores starting to bring in a broader base of customer.

Decreased advertising costs with high leverage seen from TV shows and mail distribution.

Will have brand new programs this year including a Christmas open house company-wide.

No damage seen from dock strike.

May possibly increase dividend. (had to add that)

Just a few details from the CC indicating exciting prospects for the future! Well worth listening to.
