United States got off the Silver Standard and Gold Standard couple of times.. but ultimately USA jumps back into The Precious Metal Standard again to avoid total destruction of their money.
Nixon got off the Gold Standard in the early 70s.. he said it's only temporary.. he lied.. it's permanent
USD went on The Fiat Standard since the early 70s
FIAT usually have a lifespan of 10 to 50 years.. usually no more than 50 yrs..
Which means the lifespan of the US DOLLAR are about to come to an end in this decade.. either US jumps back to the Precious Metal Standard or watch the USD purchasing power erode to zero.. after that you get Weimar Republic 2

The reason Fiats don't live a long prosperous life is that they cannot keep the rulers from overspending the way a Gold Standard could !!!!!
