30 million per year in EU

Kenny, you hit the nail on the head. The collapse of the world economies, starting here in the USA , derailed all of Echelon's projects. There is nothing wrong with the technology. The bottom line is that, in spite of the hysterical environmentalist doomsdayers, smart grid is a luxury, not a necessity. The world will continue to exist if we don't upgrade the grid, and with the world struggling to survive economically, utility companies are in no position to ask their customers to pay more for something they don't absolutely need. If you think the world will pull out of this mess, then perhaps Echelon will go on to be a success. It better happen in less than 4 years or they will have to start selling shares to pay the bills. Not to get political but if Obama gets 4 more years, I believe the USA will be in far worse shape economically in 2016 than we are today, and that most likely means the rest of the world will be as well. On the other hand, Obama is far more likely to give taxpayer money to the utilities to subsidize smart grid projects, which could benefit Echelon here in the USA.

    • John: also not to get political. No matter who wins the deficit will continue to be in huge trouble. Right wingers carry on like Obama doesnt get all that. The problem is that when Obama begins his 2nd term their will once agin be gridlock in Congress. Mitt Romney seems like a decent enough man. But lets face it. He's a flip flopper. How can one guy not make up his mind on issues? What incredible ideas as he brought to the table? The answer is none. He doesnt think before he speaks. On foreign policy this would be one dangerous guy to represent America. This is not the America of 1940. The world has changed. Enough with the bravado. With his short comings Obama has now had on the job training. He's the lesser of the two evils. The Republican party just nominated an average candidate. But franky they were all average. Bachman, perry, Newt, Cain...I think Romney would be in the lead if he has chosen Hunstman as a VP. Thats how you balance a ticket. Not Ryan. Ryan is a lightweight.......BTW no matter who wins we will be at war with Iran. And we should be. Its time to take that regime out. Once that mess is settled the world will be a safer place.
