Simple Reality is..SmartGrids are going to pickup..

That is Echelon's view, that is Itron's view, that is SilverSprings view, that is Pike Research's view, and that is and has been my view. There has been essentially a 4-5 hiatus in major Grid roll outs that were supposed to happen years ago. Regulators, national interests, stalled economies and utility reluctance to spend money that supposedly will curb their future revenues through efficiency on consumers part have all contributed to ELON's long slide down. Of course Duke scandals really killed their revenues for three years. But all along, they have had numerous successful pilots globally. It was and is all about those pilots closing. As Sege said clearly, it's not like they have been losing those pilots to someone else,....the utilities just aren't pulling the trigger. Well, sounds like next year we get some movement forward and by 2015 I have said and still think, we have to see some major roll outs gear up. If Echelon gets it's fair share, and they will, the reduced OPEX will have them in BLACK fairly early in the cycle and comps will look very good. Up goes stock. Contract announcements will add fire and hopefully stock can get back on the boil.
Point is, contrary to mere speculation by bashers, product line is great and growing,(as expected from Echelon with their history of innovation), that is not new or different, SmartGrid opportunties are going to grow, double or more in many areas Echelon participates in, they have plenty of cash on hand to weather the lull that is left thru 2013, and ELON stock will see a significant rise for shareholders. It certainly took longer than we want, but again, thru no fault of management or products or competion, just the global slowdown all meter manufacturers have had to deal with.

    • The easy to understand perspective is this..if SmartGrid spending doubles next 2-3 years and if Echelon does nothing but hold market share, ..their revenues DOUBLE! They have cut expenses so that cash flow positive is about $40 Million less than previously. Our basher alias loves to "do the math", well even a simpleton will figure this addition out. Please chime in anytime with some "bean counting" with those figures in mind. If larger contracts than expected get signed..where does that take stock at say 15X valuations?! Again, bean counter basher, please post those numbers, ..since you are "objective"..LOL

    • Do you really think they would all say the industry is dead for the next several years? And if you believe the Govt reports that the economy is improving, then you are in for a rude awakening over the next couple of years.

      • Don't understand your point... I said Smartgrids are going PICKUP! Not be dead. Actually, if you notice EU is receding into back page headlines, even though it certainly is not good. USA stocks will appear more attractive for some time...What will still be in lull is next half year is Echelon according to Sege...But some late year contract new will drive revenue in 2014 and I expect 2014 to ramp up to 2015 when global roll outs are MANDATED to be met by 2020 and ... John...nothing lasts forever..and that includes bad economies and slow markets that are destined to grow by their very nature...and SmartGrid is certainly one of them, wouldn't you agree?
