    Put money into PTTRX now?

PTTRX performs extremely well this year, because interest rate so low hence its share price kept going up. Since 2000 it ever reached 11.70 level was Nov. 2010 for a few days only. I'm afraid the price is too close to its peak now. No one has a crystal ball, but for long term investment, people invest in a Bond fund when interest rate rises and share price drops. The 3.7% yield sometimes is not enough to make up for the loss caused by price drops. Just my humble opinion.

    • I guess it all depends on your current needs and long term goals. With the stock market trading side ways for last 12 years and bank yields at such low levels this fund works for me. I've really never used the price of this fund as a measuring stick when comparing year to year because of how the funds are distributed.

I'm at the point in my investing career (54 years old) that I don't have the luxury of time to recover from huge corrections that the markets will have every few years.

Bottom line for me is this fund lets me sleep at night and still have a reasonable and fairly predictable return on my investment.

If I was in my 20’s my whole plan would be different.
