I just pulled up the 10 year chart of the 2, so starting in 2003, and without adding distributions the S&P 500 is up 60% vs. PTTRX which is up only 6%. So even that view S&P is returning more $$. I will have to add up the divy's from both to see what the true difference is, but I'm thinking the end result wont change.
Sigh.....you are looking at the wrong graph for PTTRX in Yahoo which doesn't take into account gains distributions. Since January 2003, PTTRX has almost doubled in value- i.e. 10K invested in 2003 is worth almost 20K today.
