You really don't need more than 3 or 4 funds,
Sounds like youe investing with Fidelity.......The Spartan funds are index funds and are cheaper than managed funds....plus cheaper. In the lon run they perform better too. They have total stk , lc, mc, em..etc.
I know AAPL will probably rebound from $425... (Contra) but this market is way over -sold. Due for a big time pull-back . Or should I not worry about it ? Want to conserve cash for 3- 6 months and jump back in later. Any sugestions ?
Internet studies on market timing show that the best stock market gurus average no better than 48% accuracy. So, I know I can't time the market: stock or bonds. I'm content to have sensible allocation of stocks and bonds for my age and risk tolerance (50 / 50 at this point). Then I try to diversify between stock funds: international, large cap, mid cap, small cap. I use the diversification chapter in "Bogelheads guide to investing" to choose percentages. (If you want more information on this than you can stand go to the Boglehead's board which is free.)
Next best step get into a targeted retirement fund based on your retirement date. Pretty simple huh.
Don't know what the future will bring. But, I hope I'm well positioned. God bless and good luck.
