With EDE trading in the low $17’s today I think it is a good buy. This is over a 7% yield. What a deal! EDE will pay me 7% return to hold this stock until the market recovers. How can you beat this! With new generation plants going on-line in the near future they will have to appeal to the commissions for rate increases. With Missouri electing a Democratic Governor the ROI may be slightly lower. However, considering EDE is not in any risky business ventures and their history of never cutting dividends this is where I’m putting my investing money.
I'm real and the share price is not all that bad considering the economy or should I say lack of an economy? EDE traded as low as $19.25 in 2005, $20.25 in 2006, and $21.09 in 2007 so all and all it isn't doing too bad considering those were boom times.
Jim: This board seems to be plagued with people pushing advisory services, doesnt't it? I have a lot of shares purchased in the low 20's. The only thing that worries me about EDE is that in 2005 and 2007 earnings did not cover the dividends, though cash flow did. Value Line estimates earnings of $1.40 this year, which will cover the $1.28 div. VL estimates EDE will earn #1.60 in 2009. EDE has a history of paying generous dividends, so if they actually do earn $1.60 in '09, perhaps they will up the dividend, which has been $1.28 since l993. I'm hanging on. GL, JJ
