when there are plenty of US trusts that give you an equal dividend without the 15% tax loss bullshit and headache!
There are no US trusts that give you anywhere near the return of the higher yielding Canroys(even after you deduct the 15%). Most Canroys are in the 10-15% range. Which US trust pays 15%?
While most Canroys are in the 10-15% range, many are now in the 10-12.5% range. The number that are in the 15% range is getting small.12% at a 15% tax reduction is 10.2%.However, ther are also many US trusts that are in the 6-8% range; unlike SJT which is 10%.So you both have some validity to your statements. If you averaged all US vs. all Canadian, the Canadian would be higher - even with the tax.I hold both US and Canadian Trusts. There are good and bad with either. It's hard to ignore the 100+% growth of BPT along with the 9% dividend. Just as it's hard to ignore the steady growth of Acclaim along with the 12.5& dividend.
Another advantage of the canroys is that they can add to their mineral holdings whereas the SJT trust can not.
