But you were not funny at all. About opium, you simply took something out of the the context.
If you read a 19th Century report "A sketch of Formasa" by Colquhoun, A. R. and Stewart-Lockhart, J. H. published on The China Review, 13 (1885), 161-207, you would have known that almost all of the Chinese in Formosa at that time smoked opium and were gloomy in nature. Their houses were dark, filthy, dirty, and smelling. Kids and pigs were seen running all over the living rooms. And even they lived with pigs in the same houses, they were cruel to the pigs at the time when they killed their pigs to eat.
On the contrary, the aborigines were beautiful, pleasant, and un-contaminated and they are physically superior to the Chinese.
You really don't know how bad you were (and still are), don't you?
