    Just a Guess to Share!

After touring a few places in Asia, a few interesting findings are:

    - A lot of money is flowing into HongKong to buy Chinese Stocks which have potential and traded in HongKong (to take advantage of the Chinese currency's future increase in value).

    - Some IPO related to the Chinese Market issued this year have gone up more than 50% lately (although they are all still below their IPO prices) such as LTON, TOMO etc.

    * SMI has just started to catch up and may continue to go up (to perhaps $15 or near it's IPO price soon- say, 6 months?)

This is probably the only useful sentence you ever posted on this board. HK stocks have gone up substantially already and may be a good shorting opportunity. The chance of RMB floating against US$ is slim.

    • Besides SMI and TSM, there is another sector which may be worth watching- Pharmaceutical Companies.

Due to the recent VIOXX event, all pharmaceutical companies got hit hard these days. There were a few articles discussed about the value of well-known companies such as Merk (MRK), Pfyzer (PFE), Bristol Myers (BMY), Glaxo (GSK) etc.

The historical PE for Pharmaceutical Companies is about 20+. MRK, BMY and GSK may have good value at the current level.

Of course, nobody can predict the future. With around 5% yield (5.6% MRK, 4.8% BMY), there may be good values in some of these stocks, although it may go down further before bouncing back.

      • "Buy Low, Sell High (for a quality stock)" is the golden rule for investment.

        * A Guess to Share (Nov. 2004): Bought MRK at $26 and BMY at $23.45
        - MRK closed at $30.48 , BMY at $25.03 yesterday. It's doing well in the past month.
        More upside to come?

        Time will tell!

Please keep trying to post useful news. Investment 101 states never buy low sell high but to buy high and sell higher and short low and cover lower. Pharmaceutical companies are profit motivated and none of the aforementioned company has new drug in the pipeline. MRK may become BK because of lawsuits. A better choice is DNA for high risk, and JNJ for low risk investment. As I have stated many times before, Rabbit has not and will not do anything to benefit ROC citizens. If SARS reappears this winter and spring, ROC citizens will have no choice but to buy masks from JNJ at outrageous price.

    • No body never make any mistake!

For those who can learn, they have a good chance to succeed. On the contrary, for those who can see only one side of it, never know they made mistakes, never correct, they will continue to lose until they got wipe out!

It applies to investment, politics or relationship with people or even family.

      Good Luck All !!
