Agree that DSX is likely headed down. It looks to be one of the better companies in the sector, but that won't stop it being dragged down with the others as its charters reset at lower rates.
If the 2013 charter expirations reset at anything near current rates, there will be an $8million apx decline in net income. The stock is already selling at multiple of 14x ttm - which is rich for the sector.
The revenue loss will drive EPS down to apx 10 cents a share from from 2012's 68 cents. Using a "normal" multiple of 7x to 10x, that would mean a pps between 70 cents and a dollar. Even at a historical multiple of 21, the pps would still only be about two bucks.
So, I'm hoping Buzz (Lightson) will be successful in pumping the stock up. I don't normally short stocks... it's just not how I think, but this thing is too good of an opportunity to pass up. Want to try and capture it just as the euphoria is exhausted and the crash occurs.
