Thoratec Corp. Message Board

    Dead money since 2009

I was first introduced to Thoratec in early 2009 and was impressed. the stock was around $33. Imagine my surprise when an ex-director mentioned it today at lunch and the stock was still at $33! Did I slip into a time warp? I wondered how such a great technology could produce not shareholder returns in over 5 years, I had to look to see if the same CEO was at the helm. Yep it sure looks like it. Sometimes you really have to wonder what it takes to get a board off of its dead duff and do something.

    • Same here but I was following this stock before it became THOR and was known as TCA. I've owned it off and on for a long time and I too feel the product has been mis-managed. My god, THOR had a MONOPOLY in this venue until Heartware came along and they couldn't monopolize (pardon pun) on it.
I'm going to be 70 in a week and have participated in stock votes in every stock/mutual fund I own. NEVER have I gotten my way when I went against the company recommendation. Nice to have the bully pulpit, heh?
Same with THOR. Have voted against BOD's in every election and guess what....the incompetents are still in there screwing this company over.
BTW, why do you think Heartware has been down in price lately and especially today?

    • Very prescient of you. I think some holders still wish it was $33. lol
