I'm with you on that one tomjoad. There's never been a poll that wasn't subject to interpretation. Numbers are amazing things in the way the same numbers can be shown as scenario A, B, C or even D depending on the presentation and predispositions of the viewer. Add Americans and their notorious "head in the sand" attitude on economic matters and behavior in an economic downturn is even more unpredictable. Of course, you can't forget the wildcard in the whole mix - no matter what the reality of a situation, the masses do tend to swallow mass media pronouncements whole and unquestioned.
