    Don't pay for Blu-ray

Boycott Blu-ray for a while... Maybe it will be the slap in the face that Sony needs to recognize that the consumer is tired of getting ripped off.

$25-30 for a BRD? $400-500 for a BRP? Sure, the picture quality is marginally better than 1080i, but only marginally. Sure, we get bonus footage that someone may watch once... but is that worth $10 more per DVD? Personally, I don't think so.

    • Doesn't anyone remember the prices of DVD players and DVD movies when they first came out? Pretty similar, weren't they? Adjust for inflation, I think we have a cheaper medium. The prices will come down with patience such as the DVD format had. I'm not worried about the Blu-Ray business at all.

      • I agree Anzug...stockwoodie seems to think they were $15 bucks ever since the release of DVD's. Stockwoodie, look at any new technology and you will see the price gradually lower as it becomes more mainstream. There was a lot of Research and Development that went into the technology that REQUIRES it to be more the DVD's.

Your argument is like saying XBOX360 or PS3 games should be just as cheap as games that came out 10 years ago...technology doesnt work like that...pretty much nothing works like that.

I know your next statement will say, "but HD-DVD was cheaper." HD-DVD HAD to do something to compete with blu-ray. HD-DVD was getting outsold 3-1 for most of the format war, the lower prices were just trying to pull customers their way. I'd make a bet that if HD-DVD won the format war, the prices would be more than current DVD's....B/C its better than DVD's lol. how is that hard to understand?

    • damn woodie, dont take too long and try and think of your next useless post. theres no need to look smart here cause you've already portrayed yourself as a pathetic fanboi who talks about people like you know them on a personal level.

    • lets hear some more craptastic posts from you regarding the godsend 360 and how i dont have money and need a roommate. i mean because after all, you do know who i am right?

    • what questions you dumba#$? i answered them so whats your point? you couldnt even provide info on the new crappy chipset like i asked you hipocrite.

"and if you keep this message board stuff up all day, you may not have a job for much longer"
speak for yourself who posts nonsense on these boards all day long.

you really have nothing new to talk about do you?!?! damn your pathetic! talking like you know me. come on woodie! lets get this off from personal and on to some technical stuff. oh wait, you cant cause everything you say i call you out on!

    • Nice avoidance of questions you can't answer...

Just because you got a Blu-Ray (I mean PS3) player for $300 doesn't mean it's better then the 360. It means it was cheaper. Sure...I can go scour the internet for cheaper prices on any system, but only the PS3 is the system that really needs the discounts for people to buy it...because it's over-priced, because it has Blu-Ray, because you don't get a choice to exclude blu-ray, get it? Sony screws the consumer to get their product out the door...

Maybe you can't afford to buy that many movies... That's ok (I was in college too). If you have roommates, you're probably on a pretty tight budget. ...and if you keep this message board stuff up all day, you may not have a job for much longer.

It's obvious that you don't "Get it," and you may never get it (until you learn and grow up). Keep on letting large corporations shove stuff down your throat and tell you, "you like it, that's what you want." Keep being a mindless zombie (with roommates).

You may see my arguments as useless, but that's because you fall right into the hands of corporate marketers and you don't even know it. Are you buying all your DVD's in Blu-ray now to replace your old movies (throwing $$$ out the window)? My guess is yes.

    • i bought my ps3 for 300+ taxes with certain rebates. nice try but not good enough loser. at that time i got a better system than your 400 dollar elite.

Are you buying all your DVD's in Blu-ray now to replace your old movies (throwing $$$ out the window)? My guess is yes.
WRONG! fanboi give up please. your posts are repetive and nothing more than laughter for those who read it. keep on filling the sony topics here with gaybox360 posts. its very entertaining.

    • Funny. I spent $75 dollars on a wireless adapter before the PS3 even existed. I bought it, and it was my choice, because I didn't want to run an Ethernet cable through my house. Sure, wireless is commonplace now, but BR isn't. How much would the PS3 have cost you if BR wasn't included? $350 instead of $600 at release? Tell me you would have bought the $600 system instead of the $350 system. That's what I thought. Any sane individual would have bought the $350 version, then later bought a BR add on or a stand alone BR player. MSFT only make the money if I "choose" to buy it... I didn't "choose" to buy HD-DVD or an expanded hard drive. You didn't "choose" to buy Blu-Ray, but you got it anyways. See the difference?

It's obvious that you don't "Get it," and you may never get it (until you learn and grow up). Keep on letting large corporations shove stuff down your throat and tell you, "you like it, that's what you want." Keep being a mindless zombie (with roommates).

I could really care less about the failure rate... If you want to research it, go ahead. I know that I've had my 360 for quite some time now, and I've had ZERO problems. Also, I have the piece of mind, knowing, if I do the RROD, it will be repaired free of charge.

My screen name is play on words, but you already knew that.

    • waiting on useless reply that will make me laugh and keep me entertained for the rest of my working day.....

    • you speak to me as if you know me. i has a e-stalker!!!

"Maybe then you can afford to live on your own"
like i said in my above post, you have nothing NEW to come with so you go WAY off subject. your an idiot thats also a fanboi. nothing surprising there. so you spent 100 dollars on a wireless adapter when the ps3 already comes with one installed. you see it as pushing items down our throats. i see it as M$ making more money off your sorry A^&.

Well, that's exactly what you got with the PS3 ...a "WORKING system with limited games".
so whats your point? you FAILED to provide me information with the new chipset not having as much failure rate. better working system>games. patient is something i have so ill take better games over a wall full of games put there to fill a wall.

all your arguments are useless. WHY DO YOU KEEP POSTING? i bet your getting hard off this arent you. or maybe your just an little punk who cant quit while your ahead, trying to get the last word and quit making useless posts with no sort of useful information other than "dont pay 5 extra dollars" which i havent even spent that much. i can only imagine why you would pick your name to be "woodie."

    • I really could care less about the 360 RROD. I haven't had a problem. MSFT increased the warranty to 3 years in case you do have a problem. At least they're handling it properly. ...and I don't think MSFT needs to persuade anyone to buy a 360...the numbers pretty much speak for themselves.

What extra items are they gouging with? HD-DVD, Hard Drive ??? I don't need either of those items...why would I want them shoved down my throat at no benefit to me? If I want them, I can buy them. I did buy the wireless ethernet for my XBOX, and I'm now using it on my 360. Wow. Portability. Hmmm...giving the customer a choice is corrupt? News to me.

I'm just saying, maybe you should spend your money a little more wisely so you don't have to be dependent on roommates. I think you can get a new XBOX 360 for around $250 these days. That's cheaper than the cheapest PS3, you won't have to fork out an extra $5-10 for Blu-ray movies (you can actually watch the regular DVD's you already have), you can download 10K movies from Netflix for free (although I wouldn't recommend this to you because it's another $15/month for Netflix)... Maybe then you can afford to live on your own.

Well, that's exactly what you got with the PS3 ...a "WORKING system with limited games".
