Based on past experiences, never trust Sony. The entire industry sucking in.
Boycott Sony and expensive Blu-Ray. There are many problems. We must support Worldwide HD formats.
Not necessarily too late. BR may have beaten out HD-DVD, but it's definitely not taking off. There are some global formats coming that look promising... Plus, a lot more people are downloading / renting movies as opposed to "re-purchasing" all their movies again..
If Sony were smart, they would offer a "repurchase" program. Bring in your OLD format DVD and we'll give you a $15 credit towards the same movie on Blu-Ray, or even give it to them for free. That way people will be hooked and they will start buying. Otherwise, screw BR and Sony's overpriced everything.
Interesting Blog: Blu-ray Destined to Decline?
First off, lets get some facts straight:
The 360 DVD size is only 4.7GB.
The Blu-Ray size is nearly 50GB.
The HD-DVD size was nearly 30GB.
So obviously, you don't really know what your talking about. There has been no need for more than 4.7GB for any XBOX games... Filling a game disc with 50GB is just ludicrous at this point...making a game that large with CGI is going to be expensive, like MGS.
Once again, it's not about the technology succeeding, it'a about the consumer. You can't seem to get that through your thick skull. Sure, BR is cool, but I don't want it forced down my throat. What if I don't want to buy blu-ray movies because all my movies are on regular DVD?
Make stand alone BRP and let people buy those... I have no need for BR in my "GAME CONSOLE". I want to play "GAMES". Go to Gamestop and compare PS3 game selection to 360 selection... 360 dwarfs the PS3 in game selection (meaning number of unique game titles). Sad. I was at Hollywood Viedo the other day and they had about 15 Blu-ray movies in a tiny little section... Funny. BR is really catching on... Not. People, unlike yourself, are not falling for this rip off crap anymore.
Blu Ray is integrated, which is the way the consumer wants it.
As for blue tooth, you know the one you use for your phone, also works with your PS3. Ooops, we'll let you pass on that one. Who knows what blue tooth has for the future, nothing wrong with adding a little extra for the future.
I cant believe you hate the fact that Sony included Blu-ray in their console...their games are blu-ray too (hence, why they have nearly double data capacity vs. 360 discs).
I would be mad at Microsoft supporting a technology that didnt succeed...and it didnt succeed because Microsoft didnt do the things Sony did...add it on a console...market it more...go after the big movie company's. From an investor standpoint....SONY did all the correct moves to MAKE their technology be the technology of the future.
With your first-gen xbox...were you mad because it could play dvd's too???
<<<I too can plug mine into my XBOX, but a station next to my controller is more convenient. At least I have the option. >>> Why do you need a freakin option??? The controller plugs into a cord that connects to the PS3...you have it right next to your console or 6 feet away....or 100 feet away if you have a cord long enough?
So let me get this straight...XBOX controllers can charge by plugging them into 360? No need for extra batterys or anything? .... That was my whole point.
I have streamed music using the PS3 and it has worked just fine...no try with video yet. Where do the problems exist?
I think you are caught up on the blu-ray player too much. The reason it was included is that PS3 games are on Blu-ray....hence the blu-ray player...therefore it will play blu-ray movies. I'm glad Sony went with the 45GB blu-ray disc vs. the 15GB hd-dvd disc...and I might add, the winning technology.
"Very few of your comments hold any value..."
Similar to Sony's earnings... Not much value.
Like I said, 15-20 blu-ray movies at Hollywood Video doesn't represent what the "consumer" wants... Maybe you should bend over instead of getting Sony electronics shoved down your throat.
stockwoodie...haha your comments are hilarious...you spend more time on the SNE messageboard than sony fans!
Here is why HD-DVD's were priced below blu-rays....BECAUSE MICROSOFT WAS LOSING THE HD-FORMAT WAR AGAINST SONY...and they were trying to do whatever to make up some ground. MARK MY WORDS...if Microsoft won the HD format, the discs would be priced similar to the Blu-rays.
And yes I have purchased a sony walkman (back in the early 90's) and although I never really use it...it still works.
Sony's PS3 plays GAMES, Blu-rays, Internet, & Music....unlike what you seem to not understand, that just because it doesnt have "halo" it doesnt play "games." go talk on the MSFT messageboard!
