Just bought another non-Sony 42" 1080p LCD from Costco. It's for my sister and I know it's a great LCD because I own one myself.
I could buy 2 of these for the price of 1 Sony. I know, I know, all the Sony fanboys are going to say, "Sony is way better" and "You get what you pay for", etc... But I've done my homework, I've compared screens and I already own one with no complaints.
Consumers... Save your money and buy something other than Sony.
I don't know anyone that even owned an HD-DVD... I'm not sure why you like to dwell on them...
I get 9-12MBps download at my house... That's pretty fast. I've watched plenty of HD stuff and it works fine... I know that 1080p is larger, but I'm not so sure it's going to take a long time to download.
Actually I've used Netflix HD movies from my Xbox and they take no time at all to d/l. I was surprised, but it works like youtube where it downloads while you watch. Also, HD TV kicks butt. For now DVD's look fine to me, but I'll probably get a PS3 some day for Blu-Ray and maybe a couple games. Maybe when it's $200 around next Christmas.
