    Actual manipulation

Being professionally involved in IT security, I'm very interested in this SEC action related to brokerage account access compromise for purposes of stock manipulation.

There's a link to a PDF of the SEC action part way down the page that shows a suspect Xerium trade way back in August 2009. While not necessarily related to what we have observed the last few days, it shouldn't have been too difficult for this guy to "change" his identity.

Make sure you are using strong passwords so no one can get into your accounts. This guy is not only manipulating stock prices but also using hacked accounts. Hopefully brokerages keep password encrypted.

I know none of my own passwords and also use strong user IDs. I use the free product at the link below and highly recommend it. Pasting rather than typing passwords eliminates a significant risk factor: keystroke loggers. (I don't particular trust Microsoft.)
