Going into announcements for Intel and TI tonight there is some strong TI buying today. What's it based on? IBM's good results? Shouldn't be. They didn't report huge chip or hardware increases. They are trying to emphasize more service income. Within the last 2 weeks STM disappointed. They sell chips just like we do. I don't get it.
Don't paint me a short. I own enough of TI purchased at prices we won't see again that I'd love huge increases. I thought we'd get bumped down under 15 where I'd double up, sell at a higher price before the end of the year, and still hang around long enough for a big run in the next couple of years.
mat, you had your chance below 15 a little while ago.
re stm, imo ti is taking mkt share from them or they were too optimistic in their guidance. recall last winter when everyone got down on txn cause of their conservative guidance and stm was aggressive. tom said then that either they were loosing share to stm or stm was being too agressive in forecast. maybe a little of both, loss of share and too aggressive.
My original post suggested (apparently not clearly) that buyers on April 15 seemed to think they knew something the rest of us didn't. There was no economic news, no customers releasing improved sales figures, no similar product success that would drive TI prior to the release. Some buyers knew the news would be good.
