Mentor is an ancient tech company, the #3 company in a bad sector. They've been wracking up a lot of debt in recent years, and have lots of internal problems.
The thing about Mentor though is that the stock is real cyclical, and actually pretty easy to play. Just look at the 5 or 10 year chart. It's pretty simple, you buy at around 7 (or lower) and sell at around 10 (or higher), and you'll do fine. The only reason to buy and hold the stock is if you believe that they will be taken over soon by Cadence or Synopsis, and that speculation has been out there for many many years.
Unless MENT management changes their past years of behavior, hold until it gets to about $12. Then sell, or you'll see it possibly spike (to about $15) and then come tumbling down again when MENT stumbles, has a bad quarter, or runs up more debt for another acquisition.
