If you bought this POS, you have only yourself to blame. I am one of these people. My "financial adviser" put me in this POS, without knowing what contango was, and now I'm paying the price...however, I have to be accountable because I didn't do my own due diligence.
This whole investment is seriously flawed.
However, if you are a gambler, there remains one possibility of trying to recoup some or all of your money. My friend is energy analyst in Houston, Texas. For the past two months he has been telling me the short term price on NG is somewhere between $3.20-3.50. Historically, October is not a good month for NG. According to my friend, the rest of October will be rough for NG, but in November, we could get a spike...a quick spike. Of course, weather is involved...we would need a cold spell of some sort...but NG demand is not as overdone as some think. Also, the contango has flattened out, which is a positive for UNG, if you want to look at it that way.
The other option is to sell, take your losses and buy a real investment.
