'Vomitorium' is actually a real word. The tunnel entryways from a lobby into a theatre's or stadium's stage area are called vomitoria.
Theatrical lore has it that nervous actors would run out, vomit, come back--and on with the show. But Dictionary.com explains: "in a theater or stadium, esp. ancient, a passageway leading to and from the seating; from Latin vomitorius, alluding to the path's discharging of the spectators"
I stand corrected. Thank you for that information. Doing a Google search I also see that vomitorium goes back to the ancient Romans. Google had over 28,000 hits on vomitorium. There is even a web site called vomitorium.com.
Isnt a vomitorium a place from ancient rome where after overeating at a feast the dirty romans would thow up and then go back to eat more----Gluttons!!!!-- That is why Rome fell!!!---maybe the overeating of americans is foretelling our future??
