be it a personal or corporate act of charity.
Simply put, pick your cause OR...let that money get taken by our friends in the IRS and let the idiots in DC spend it.
I'm not sure I buy critics accusations that this charitable donating would have stayed in SD's (or CHK's) couffers anyways, verses having to be sent off to the IRS.
However yes, I agree. both were comp'd higher (in many cases much higher) than their industry counterparts. This too would have been a cost of business deduction if you will and they each in turn donated alot of this money to their charity of favor. Again, a tax break.
Art, planes, and funky well ownership deals are fair game but lets face it, so far, while in bad taste, these events have not been proven to be governance issues. Both have already paid a price and the jury is still out on SD and we shall see.
I still repsect what these two built together with next to nothing for starters........ . The criticism however, is clear and Aubrey has paid for it as well as Ward and it appears this may not be the end of their problems, i guess we'll see.
You were my biggest example of how to do this job. I know when I gave my tithe to the catholic church I was so glad it went to settle lawsuits of sexual misconduct instead of helping the poor. The "poor's"(see ward and aubrey article) like shareholders(Sec) have enough people worried about them. How many people are looking out for priests and CEOs.........sure they have money but I invest to feel good about myself..........if I happen to make money while doing it......so be it.
