my wife is in the Philippines , right at the worst part of the storm .... have not heard from her yet ..... communications are down ...... she went to visit her family in Leyte , took a direct hit , category 5 Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyen..... oh man ..... not having a good day at all ......
Aida is okay , she just called me , she said their kitchen blew away , but the rest of the house stayed up , so they were huddled in other rooms ..... oh man what a relief ..... but she was not far from Tacloban , and if you've seen the news , you'll understand why i was so afraid for her and her family .... thank you all for your thoughts and prayers , I appreciate it ..... now I just need to get her home , that's not going to be easy , but at least she is alive and okay ...... hard to get her money right now with bank holidays and internet down for western union ...... krap ..... what a mess
Thank you everyone ..... truly appreciate your thoughts and prayers ..... Now here's a story for you all ..... when she came here 2 years ago , we were going to the store during a severe weather outbreak , and we ran smack dab into a Tornado !!!!! No joke , I filmed it we were so close , and she of course was freaking out (me too) .... Now , two years later , I send her home to visit her family , and she runs into Eathquakes and a Super Typhoon , and she catches a direct hit from that Typhoon !!!!! ..... I don't know if she is the luckiest or unluckiest person I know !!!!!! well , she married me , she must be the luckiest I guess ..... lol , I'm sure many of you would argue that one !!!!! hahahha .... GL Monday
Hi Mars ; Have you received any information concerning your spouse ? Know that she & her family are in my prayers. The Arch Convocation was lead in prayer by my friend the Monsignor himself, for Mars & his fine family. May God Bless you & yours Mars
Good luck to you and your wife Mars/Taco, you will be in my prayers. This storm will be one for the history books, but it was fast moving so hopefully the torrential rains and floods won't kill many people. The wind damage will be enormous, but its flooding that usually causes the most havoc.
well rainbow , if you are in Oklahoma you know plenty about severe weather , and yes , being a "fast moving storm" was absolutely crucial , Aida said their kitchen blew away , so if those winds had lasted much longer , the whole house might have been blown away , and I don't think anyone is going to fair well in 150+mph winds with debris flying everywhere ..... Seeing the storm was fast moving gave me some hope it would pass quickly , and as bad as it was , if it had lingered a real long time ??? Oh man
skooter - I also believe 100% in God , but I know , bad things still happen , so I was worried , and also wished for some "luck" too !!!!! and yes , her dad has been through 200 of these things , but this one was a biggy and a direct hit ..... I was worried he might get a little too cocky and brave !!!!!! but he did the right thing I guess , they stayed in the house ...... she said the kitchen blew away !!!!!
divin4tacos- as you can see from all these good people. It doesn't matter what your view is on stocks, religion or politics. People come together when need be to pray for your families safety, I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
I've been tracking the storm for a few days now ..... yes it is passed over now ...... haven't heard from Aida yet ..... she was at the worst possible place , took a direct hit ..... needless to say , I am freaking out worried right now ...... I'll post when she calls or emails me .....
