Anyone know why? I know they sometimmes halt a stock for 2 reasons... 1) technical errors but usually effects more than one 2) huge news coming and they halt
do they ever halt for major good news coming like a buyout??? I dont know. I have heard of a halt before a major bad news release though...I dont think thats the case here though...so maybe technical. WISH I KNEW THOUGH>>>
Yes, In a buyout they will also halt a stock trading. Really anytime they cannot keep up with the viable orders.
eg. If SGI announced an endorsed(by SGI management) buyout offer at $9/sh.. There would be orders on the table to buy at $3.30 and orders to buy at $8.50 . Some people will get screwed really bad in these situations. I've seen sellers get $3.30 and the next seller get $8.50 and visa versa. That's why they have to halt the trading.
