Proverbs also tells us the end in store for the lazy: A lazy person becomes a servant (or debtor): “Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor” (12:24); his future is bleak: “A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing” (20:4); he may come to poverty: “The soul of the lazy man desires and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich” (13:4 KJV).
More or less the same thing the establishment once said to the 1960's protestors. It only makes sense that you, as a member of the establishiment today, would say something remarkably similar...
Some things never change.
Yes. The Democrats are loving this. They have found a scapegoat for all their failures. Wall Street. It's ok. This is how discontent starts. Most people can figure out that Obama and his policies are a disaster. However, what is happening today is a disaster that has been in the making for decades. And the Wall Street banksters are not innocent bystanders... Unfortunately, Obama's "change" has only helped make matters worse. You are right! God bless you back, my surfing friend!!!!
And what do you do when, good, honest work doesn't pay anymore? When you are still paying for your mortgage, but your home isn't worth half of what you are paying the bank? When the banks can afford to pay their executives millions of dollars, but cannot afford to give you a break to save your home? What do you do when you are tired of paying good money for things like healthcare that the poor get for free, and the rich can afford without worries? What do you do when your retirement is threatened because politicians will rather cut social security than close the loopholes for the big corporations? When you see your small business fail, but you see big banks and insurance companies get bailed out with taxpayer's money? Where do you go when your children finish college and instead of a job, all they have to show for it is a mountain of debt? When you have worked hard all your life, and you see your savings disappear trying to pay your copayments and deductibles because a loved one is sick?
I guess you go to Wall Street and you occupy it....
I feel your pain. You are not alone, you are part of the 99%.
This is what happens when greed rules the day.
But I'm not out to end all greed. That's silly. In general people are greedy, that's never going to change. What has to change is the system's response to unchecked greed on the grandest scales.
Unfortunately, the system as we know it has been co-opted by sock puppets stuffed with lobby cash. They have completely infiltrated our institutions and infected our democracy. The body politic is sick and dying.
Commercial fisheries never dreamed they could over-fish the bluefin tuna but they did. If not for urgent interventions, bluefin tuna would be extinct by now. Likewise Wall Street has over fished the 99%, placing our whole ecosystem in peril. We need urgent intervention and we need it now. The middle class is nearing extinction.
Even the 1% must realize at some point they can't have their middle class and eat it, too. But they are like drug addicts working at the pharmacy. They won't check themselves, not now. They are addicts. It's up to the 99% to check them. And we will, otherwise we will all perish.
Blame, blame, blame!!! That's all you Liberal Communists do. Take control of your life & stop with the blame game.
Everyone has set backs in their life. Some learn & move on. Others are in woe is me mode. Poor me. Life is not fair. Where are the handouts?
I don't buy into the excuses and lies. I go to work. I can find anyone a good paying job, according to their abilities, tomorrow. If I lose my house it is because I took a gamble and I lost. I learn my lesson, I pick myself up and I start over. Blaming others only empowers them not you.
