    Mo.'s Truman Bank year's 42nd U.S. bank failure

    SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Truman Bank of St. Louis became the 42nd U.S. bank failure of the year, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Friday. Simmons First National Bank of Pine Bluff, Ark., will assume Truman's $245.7 million in deposits and buy its $282.3 million in assets. The cost to the FDIC's deposit-insurance fund will be $34 million. Truman Bank is also the second bank to fail in Missouri this year.
