    ARAY should represent itself honestly

I remain convinced that ARAY "Cyberknife" is a good platform from which to deliver radiation for certain cancers. However, it is duplicitous to advertise itself as a form of surgery which "cuts" tumors. Radiation is radiation - even if delivered more precisely - and surgery is surgery - whether it is performed in open context, laparoscopically, or robotically, with the daVinci system.

    • Oh Please. This post is nonsense. Aray is bladeless surgery. If you had a brain tumor, what would you want, some doctor cutting open your skull and fishing around in there or Cyberknife surgery? Patients KNOW what their getting and doctors are doing a fantastic job explaining the procedure to them. Your debating semantics over an advertisement that has no baring on the value of what ARAY provides. What is your real objective here? As this technology continues to advance, patients are the BIG winners. You should spend more time on the Philip Morris site attacking smokers.

    • Radiosurgery, which has always been the field cyberknife is associated with, is a treatent using precise high dose radiation to destroy tumors. Radiosurgery is a great treatment option for those who do not want to be anethisized and cut on or come in for many treatments of less precise, low dose radiation. Gammaknife is the long time standard in radiosurgery;however the system cannot tolerate target movement so requires head frames and is only appropriate for head and neck. Varian True Beam variation can do radiosurgery, but even with calypso cannot make automatic adjustments for movement as CK can. So robotic cyberknife is still the best radiosurgery platform for treating tumors anywhere in the body.
