Privat communication this morning told me that the mainstay of the Bard Urological Division will be closing within the year. Without the stable income from the Foley catheter, Bard won't have much left. An employee told me that the closing was announced yesterday! Might want to review your holdings.
Privat communication [sic] with what? Your tarot card reader? A bottle of Mr. Boston? A wino on the bus? Get real. People offer varied opinions on this board, but most try to keep it steeped in reality.
Capnbob, what exactly do you mean and what announcement are you talking about? Is it a public announcement? The Foley is made both in Malaysia and Monks Corner plants and marketed by BUD and BMD. What's up? Give us some clues.
drabrc: I got my first inkling of the dire news in the Bard Press Release dated Monday, January 29, 4:07 pm published by BW Health Wire which I found right here on Yahoo Finance. Second paragraph "consolidation of all non-manufacturing to a single location in central New Jersy" which caused the tizzie in this message area. Third paragraph apparently escaped you all!!! "substantially reduce the number of its manufacturing facilities - first phase to be initiated March 2001"
And no, the local papers have been silent, but in 22 years there has been little ever published about the company on anything, so I'm not surprised!
I learned from a reliable source - his wife works there - that it was announced in the plant this week that Moncks Corner would be shut down within the year and that severence packages were being prepared!
Now where will the Foley Catheters come from? and would you want to use one made with little foreign hands and questionable manufacturing practices?
