    Shoe that finally fell

This stock I have been following for awhile, $23 down to 7 today, after taking the $4 million hit, the book value is $21 a share. I do not know why they lowered the dividend by half, with that much capital?

Having said that, they have weathered the storm better than most banks, and will be profitable in the near future again.

I hope they raise the dividend sooner than later and grow the bank at a fast rate going forward( note, increase in deposits and assests).

Is anyone else long this name?

Good luck to the longs, I just think on a book basis this is one of the cheapest names out there.

    • Buckbrew,

correction: they WERE good bankers. Those players are not the same any longer.

    • Maybe. But I'm also from the old school that believes management, particularly the CEO and the Board, is responsible for at least 75% of any company's performance. Afterall, the job of any CEO should be focused on one thing "enhance shareholder value". I saw the way VIST handled the Madison acquisition and I wasn't an employee or either bank. However, I do own a significant position in VIST and frankly, I would like to get out. In my opinion, VIST has not delivered any organic growth and has not made the right moves to halt its slide.

    • You are much to hard on management. They are good bankers, know there market and if there is a fault in that they do not have more investment firms cover there story. The street will eventually find this bank, they have almost a $10 tangible book and a $18 book value. They had one developer loan that went bad but will recapture most of it. In a year this stock could easily be in the teen's. I hope for your sake you are not shorting this name. Good luck in investing

    • That's too bad. As evidenced by today's market activity, VIST's stock can't even move as the market is is racing significantly higher and most other bank stocks are appreciating in value. Management is in the dark and a lack of leadership is evident...

    • VIST Financial has been a disaster. I got the stock in this bank when they acquired Madison Bank, a small well run niche bank in the Philadelphia subs. When they acquired Madison there was little regard for its management and they were very quick to cut ties with the people who had the customer relationships. Dumb! VIST is a classic example of an arrogant management team with no leader. Don't expect this stock to make a dramatic move anytime soon. In fact, the best thing their management team could do is look for another bank to acquire them.
