OT - Question for Foggie objectively, please tell me why you love obama so much? I really do not understand, and I would like to.

Why are you so pro dem, so pro Obama?

And before you give me a knee jerk answer, I am NOT blindly pro republican, pro Bush or anti Obama.

I was hopeful that Obama was going to do great things. Look up his campaign promises from 2008. What has done? Not one item. Even his promise of universal healthcare. What he gave may be worse than what we had.
Some (not all) lower income people may be covered, especially if they are destitute and older or sick. however if you are younger, middle class then chances are you cannot afford the plan because it's much higher than what you had. So all he has done is SHIFT healthcare availability, not guarantee it. And he also promised systematic healthcare and tort reform two years ago if this passed. Nothing so far.

Bush made a lot of mistakes, relied on dad's old buddies for his closest advisers, (much to his and the U.S.'s detriment). I believe that his heart was in the right place, but he needed much better advisers and much, much better image people (true of most older republican generation politicians.)
Also Bush did not cause the depression, the bulk of the blame lies with Clinton's banking reforms to make housing affordable for people that previously did not qualify for it. Bush made things worse with a lack of SEC oversight. Obama made things worse by a lack of accountability (zero prosecution) & by his outright animosity towards small business & wasting of trillions of dollars.

Do you not see that nearly all politicians have only their own interests at heart? Forget the political party they are throwing themselves a party, and we are the ones paying for it.

Ask yourself, where did Obama come from? How did he even get the party's nomination with virtually no qualifying experience or political base. Ask WHO got him elected? WHO is pulling his strings? His rhetoric is top notch but he is no leader, no statesman. All he has done is make things worse for the middle class, small business, & even for blacks!

    • Thanks gtstockreaper, That's telling them. It's very easy to cut down our President, if you only listen to the one sided talk radio and FOX television. The Republicans got us into this mess and are trying their best to prevent the Democrats from solving the problems they caused. They seem to want what latin america has, a few elete rich and many poor modern day slaves. That is what the Bush clan pushed us toward with their low taxes for the wealthy and loose rules toward finance and business.

      • capauli,
Obviously you only read headlines, if you had read the entire thread you would have seen that gtstockreaper and I are in agreement on a vast number of issues. You, on the other hand, sound like the liberal version of Rush Limbaugh.

Yes, the republican party is ruled by elitists and billionaires (news flash buddy, so are the dems!!!).

The bulk of republican party now consists of people probably much like you grandparents, if they were born in this country. Hard working salt of the earth folks, somewhat older, mostly rural and what you might call the working poor. Country folks who mainly want to be left alone to try and earn a living.
Who is the party of elitist yuppie city folks now? That's right, the democrats. Do some demographic research before you spout off your mouth.

Do you think the democratic leaders want ANYTHING different than what the republican leaders do?
        If so, you a fool.
They BOTH want to create a country of "modern days slaves" as you so colloquially put it. They both want to line their pockets with your money and they both want to enrich themselves at your expense.

As far as the president, that two faced liar has completely LOST all my respect, and the respect of most of the people whom I know that have a DVR and know how to use it for something besides America's Got Talent or Survivor....

      • True,

One thing these folks are missing you must WIN an election in order to be President and have folks endlessly point out your faults......

        Just WIN Baby....lol

    • Let me take a stab at your question. In 2008,I was psyched I wanted John Mc cain to win, when he nominated Sarah Palin as Vp I recoiled ripped my bumper sticker off an voted for Obama. The man was in his 70's and he could have died in office. if you can't see why I didn't want Palin you missed the whole American political experience. Then we get a second chance and who do we get WIlliard who got a deferment to serve an LDs mission, put his country second
Williard refused to show more than 2 years of tax returns. Said he was trying to repeal Roe vs Wade and was going to initiate a constitutional amendment to define marriage as between male and female. The polls showed Chris Christy as a possible winner against Obama but no the tea party want to run the show. HIllary will win hans down and quite possibly be the last honkey in the white house. Blacks Hispanics educated women and men unions party democrats ,gays will all support government programs .AS a former republican the latest fiasco with Mc Connell getting his Dam in Kentucky as a pay off for ending the shutdown shows as part of the spoils says it all. Demographics have changed .In the sixties when many minorities were asking for abortion it was the hard Christian right who stopped them now they are faced with numbers they can't overcome. YOu can't win being anti gay anti abortion anti 16 oz soda anti union and for every war that is taking place in the world that is the republican party ticket in a summation

      • bobbi,

I agree the last two candidates are perhaps the worst ones the republicans could have possibly trotted out (except for maybe Rick Perry or Jeb Bush...)

And I totally get why Obama won in 2008. But in 2012, even with Romney, after 4 years of lies?
I have a hard time swallowing that one. I feel like Obama is a black Richard Nixon, only not nearly as smart or mature or politically savvy. Same grand hubris and same lack of honor and integrity though.

It's obvious we do need a new Party in America. And the Tea Party could be it. Fiscally. But I agree, they need to 1) Get out of people's bedrooms and 2) Stop preaching to people.
If not, they will NEVER be viable, never get elected.

Jesus said to lead by example. IF you really want people to be more pious and more Christian, then lead by example, NOT by preaching at them, or by legislation.
You cannot legislate a love for God, or respect or morality.
It does not work, never has, never will.

Let's fix hunger and poverty and healthcare and security and education and foster opportunity, self respect and accountability. People will find God when their lives are empty enough. But not when they too uneducated to even have any hope.

    • Trying to talk some sense into a liberals head how bad their (and Obama's) policies are for the general masses and America, in general, is like trying to teach a pet turtle to speak French.

You got your work cut out for you.........

    • gtstockreaper,

So, you are not foggie, obviously, but I have really enjoyed having some intelligent discourse instead of BS sound byte rhetoric and name calling etc.

Very refreshing, and I appreciate the fact we found a lot of common ground on some issues.
I am always willing to change my mind if the facts are different than I believe they are, and all I ask is that anyone that wants to debate do likewise.
My paradigm may not always be correct, but neither is it always wrong.

And unlike Obama, I do not label people as extremists and compare them to terrorists for simply not agreeing with me. I have never in my lifetime seen the POTUS act in such an immature and childish manner, and I pray I never will again once he is out of the office which he appears to have little respect or regard for.

    • Obama's problem of "not doing enough" is mostly a problem of not having control of Congress. He should of framed his elections like this: "Here is what I'm going to try to do (insert list here), but the Republicans are against all of these. If you elect me and get me 60 seats in the Senate and 212 seats in the House then I will take that as a mandate and do them all. If you cannot get me majorities in the Senate and House, then I will try and do this (insert new list)." Here are the laws that got passed by Obama so far... you see the screeching halt once the Rep's got control of the House in Nov 2010? Anything he had not passed before that date was dead in the water due to the Rep'd decision to oppose anything out of the White House, so really the take away is this... "Wow, I cannot believe he got so much passed in just 22 months!!!" Please see list below:
