Important distinction about Fed Ex. This DOE funded project to test Plug's range extender in Fed EX trucks has been on going but the recent DOE news is that they significantly increased the funding for this project to bring the product to commercialization faster.
Plug is not using its own capital to develop this application...this is enormous for a company that is short on cash. They are getting future growth without having to put their own capital at risk.
Previously Plug would say that the Fed Ex project was "step 3" in their pipeline (after forklifts and TRUs) but this might bring the product to commercialization faster hence making the revenue opportunity lets say 3 years out instead of 5-7.
