We signaled this earlier - suggesting SPRD was set to begin trending toward transition from nano/short-based movement to more fundamentals-based movement. It's happening: within the past few weeks institutional ownership increased from 39% to nearly 49% (http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/sprd/institutional-holdings) - a total increase of 25%! We've also seen a decline in shorts. Volatility has substantially diminished.
"Solid-longer" accumulation at these levels is taking place as stock changes hands - albeit strategically. As Pepsi suggested earlier (the best analysis I've read on SPRD) - this all has the trademark of "what happens" when something's about to explode... managed, lower-priced accumulation in anticipation... T-minus 8 days.
While an oversized phone with an archaic input mechanism doesn’t exactly sound like an iPhone killer, the Galaxy Note has enough going for it that it deserves a second look. That is, as long as you don’t mind looking like a huge dork while using it.
SPRD is not in the latest tegra-based ZTE 4G LTE phones announced over the week-end ? well, SPRD does not have neither 3G or 4G LTE products ... I wonder how many of the china-specific galaxy notes are going to be sold. I hesitate between 2 or 3 since at that price point, chinese who can afford it buy iPhones. Oh gee-wiz again, iPhones are not TD-SCDMA and this means .... no SPRD in there either !!!!
This is a freebee but there are subscriber sites with the same information.. Buy low (spreadtrum) sell high .. Good Luck !
