STEC management contends that hyper-scale customers think six months ahead. FIO started its slide five months ago as everyone and their brother began announcing multi-terabyte capacity PCIe cards. To my mind, FIO is a breakeven operation who's biggest customers have opened the door to competition. Initially, it seems, customers want multi terabyte cards with a single controller and low electricity demand. FIO can only loose and STEC thinks its in the running. Lets hope they're right.
Don't data centers refresh every 3 plus years? If true, it suggests that we are potentially five months into a very high stakes game.
