Berkshire Hathaway Earned 2 oz of gold/share

    In the first quarter.

If you looked at the historical price of Berkshire verses gold back in the early 1980s they were the same price. Now BRK is priced at 100 times gold and it earns 2 oz of gold every quarter.

    Is BRK better than gold?

    • Correction-BRK is currently priced at 110 times gold.

In 1980 BRK was priced at 340/sh which is the year gold made its run to 800/oz. Had you bought 30 shares of BRK rather than 30 ounces of gold you'd be worth almost $5 million more today. Something to think about for long time holders of gold.

I bought gold in 2004 and 05 and BRK in 1986 when it was priced around 2700/sh and I recently bought more gold when it dropped to 1335/oz a few weeks ago.

Someday BRK will issue a dividend which I'll use to buy more gold.

    • When the old fogey drops, so will his stock.
