If they are going to conduct a combo drug study that will include a statin(as mentioned), it will certainly be one of the top 3 to 5 selling/prescribed statins in the market. What are they going to use, the worst selling? I don't believe so. I could be wrong, but isn't Lipitor,Crestor and Zocor up there in presriptions and sales? PFE owns Lipitor, AZN owns Crestor and MRK owns Zocor. From my perspective, these 3 companies have the inside track. If any other BP throws their hat in the ring it's because they really really want Amarin at all cost and are willing to dig deep into their pocket. We'll know soon enough. IMHO it has to be one the 3, AZN, MRK or PFE. GLTA.
Mr Z said co-marketing is his least favored option because it would mean "giving up control". I think he means it. I think he wants a bidding war which should take place after outcome of 889 and NCE is settled, no matter the outcomes. The outcomes will drive the market price on which the bidding will begin.
You need a top marketing co. to market your product.Pfizer did GREAT MARKET RESEARCH with a GROUP--which gave them clues-how to advertise?
Merck did similar market research for Lipitor-with a group--Got different results.
Read Fortune article in Jan.20,2003.
So ,yes every one may be interested--but in my judgement--Pfizer is # 1 marketing co.
Even Astra Zeneca chose Pfizer to market Nexium in OTC market from 2014.(Nexium patent expires in 2014).
Look at how many co. are asking Pfizer to market their products--Generics or Properitry.
