Why has the company elected not to provide 3rd party sales info?
Adam F is his article today stated that the company has elected not to allow 3rd party sales info to be collected and released. Why would they not allow that?
"How will investors know if Vascepa's launch is a success?
Amarin has decided to block wholesaler prescription data from third-party data services IMS Health and Wolters Kluwer. This makes it difficult, if not impossible, for analysts and institutional investors to measure weekly and monthly Vascepa prescriptions.
Absent these independent data sources, investors will rely on Amarin's quarterly financial reports, and they will look to see if Vascepa sales meet Wall Street's expectations."
I would much prefer to see the results as they occur.
It is much better to have Amarin decide on sales announcements than to have the MMs spin the numbers to their advantage. Early sales and market share info is provided to the sales teams during launch mode and much of that early sales info will show up on various boards through members of the sales force.
Not good business frankly. Let your competition know weekly by weekly how your early sales are going. Let your competition know if they should adjust their pricing or not. Let your competition start spreading rumors about the product and that doctors are sticking with "us" cause they know it is better than Vascepa. No one should expect immediate gratification in sales from Vascepa so why release very early data. Will take time to ramp up. Company has already implied as much. Only a negative IMHO by releasing very early sales data.
