1. Concern of omega-3 causing prostate cancer are exaggerated. While I think the overblown publicity will hurt OTC fish oil sales it should not hurt prescription sales because any MD who believes their patient should be on Vascepa will easily explain to their concerned patient that a post-hoc analysis of a completely unrelated study is worthless and does not establish a cause and effect relationship.
2. I believe tomorrow's script numbers will well exceed 5k. I for one have prescribed it several times this week and am looking forward to FDA approval for the ANCHOR indication.
3. Another company to look at is ACST. While it has had a tremendous run recently it is expecting to release the first of two phase II trials next month. If these studies prove their animal studies are correct, that is that their krill oil, Capre lowers LDL, Tg and raises HDL we are talking about a potential $5-7 billion company. Current market cap $270 mil.
I haven't looked into ACST. That said, trial results and large-scale marketing of krill oil are two different animals. Krill oil is unstable and there is currently no known way to store and distribute it without risk. Stellar trial results will not make it marketable.
4. While I do believe reports that sales rep will be able to present doctors the JELIS study in their marketing pitch are just rumors...once it is approved for the ancho indication I can tell you one thing. After listening too so many drug pitches from drug reps I can't tell you how many times I get a "while I'm not allowed allowed to discuss trail X that showed drug Y had an effect at lowering Z...." Will that happen for Vascepa for the Anchor indication? I would bet money on it.
Anyone know what time today we will here about the script numbers from last week?
No one knows. From what I understand the numbers come from Bloomberg Professional Service and someone with that quite exclusive service graciously reports them. They have been out I think in the afternoon on Friday's the last couple of weeks. Before that they were shared with us on Sunday's for about 2 months. Before that we always found out on Monday's. So the answer is, we don't know. In any case, anything above 4800 is good. Above 5000 would be really good. Above 5300 and we might have a rout. My guess is a range from 5100-5500.
