Race to Make Electric Cars Stalled by Battery Problems By Norihiko Shirouzu Word Count: 2,032 | Companies Featured in This Article: General Motors, Toyota Motor, Altair Nanotechnologies, General Electric DETROIT -- When the car world gathers here Sunday for the annual North American International Auto Show, the industry will be buzzing about electric power. Auto makers from General Motors Corp. to Toyota Motor Corp. will be displaying a new breed of cars that run mainly on electricity.
I guess the car makers have not looked at A123 OR Enerdel for safe lithium batteries.
JMHO but I think they do not WANT to make electric vehicles! and are looking for every excuse under the sun to not do it. They are reluctant to retool for the electrics for one thing. And I believe they have some vested interest in continuing with petroleum powered vehicles... Big OIL providing cash incentives????
Li Titanate batteries are produced by ALTI and Ener1. A123 is currently focusing on Li nano-phosphate cells. The writer of that article is under-informed about the subject of interest, safe Li Ion batteries. Both EnerDel and ALTI have a superior chemistry that addresses this issue as the single most important element of the EV battery.
