Feel sorry for you shareholders that Ackman picked your stock
This guy has proven to be a horrible investor and has done nothing but make high profile disasterous investments. I don't know anything about this company but I would avoid it now that Ackman and his ponzi scheme is involved.
Well we now know that Ackman is getting out of JCP with at least a $200 million loss. And he is at least $300 million in the red with his short position with HLF. His fund is doing terrible despite the fact that the markets have been in a bullish bull market mode all year. His other investments are not going that we;; either. If Ackman is in APD, I take that as a sell signal. Nothing he touches does well.
Maybe you're right. But as a long-term investor in APD, I'm glad to see an activist like Mr. Ackman buying a large stake in this company. Don't know much about Mr. Ackman or Herbalife or JC Penny. This I much I do know, over the last 5 years APD stock has underperformed relative to its US industrial gas peers (PX and ARG) who faced the same financial crisis and industrial slowdown. Whatever he does to unlock hidden value I'm for.
Emotions and biases aside......I think you'd have plenty of company. Frankly, I'm surprised your comment's attracted several thumbs down.
One would think SOMETHING has to change at APD, and they seem to have proven they're incapable of identifying what it is and doing it themselves. Having their own CEO cited earlier this year as the third most over-paid in America given dismal shareholder value creation over his tenure should have been terribly embarrassing to the Board. And, who knows, that's the kind of red flag that may have also been a factor in attracting Ackman's attention.
Ackman has a horrible record. His most recent investments have been nothing short of disasterous. He may have had a little success earlier in his career, but as the saying goes, even a blind squirrel can gather some nuts and a blindfolded monkey shooting darts may find a winner once in awhile.
I feel sorry for you APD longs. Take a clue from the Ackmaniacs who followed Billy-Bob in other investments. They were like mice being led to slaughter by the Pied Piper of Pershing.
If Ackman is in, I would be out. If he is long, I would be short. If he is short, I would go long. That way you can't lose.
