At 09:31 08/19/13 A sell order for 413,000 shares at $1.30
This looks suspiciously like the remnants of the 500,000 shares reduction announced by Applied Medical Corp earlier. It was immediately removed and a trade of 1, 000 share went through a minute later for $1.31. If so might this indicate that 87k shares have already been disposed of and the price AMC is looking to get is $1.30? I assume these would be the shares acquired at $1.09 earlier during the secondary offering. If one of the partners wanted out, this would take care of that at a 20% premium in a few months. The fact that it disappeared may mean it will be handled as a Mezzanine transaction if it hasn't already. That would be good news. With this overhang out of the way the price would no longer have a ceiling. Any one else see this? Other comments on this or other lines of "speculation"?
Down to 412,000 shares at $1.30. Until this overhang is removed the price is fixed at whatever miniscule shares are offered at pennies below this. Either news from overseas of favorable European sales or approval in Japan will get this of the dime, else it could be a long dull summer/fall.
Anderson, I did see it this am. I suspect it was AMC, however, thought they were accounting for the sell volume on Friday. Wonder who is on the other side of Friday's large trade volume? AMC bought their 3.3M shares at a $1.65. They bought in prior to the last offering that SHV lapped up at $1.05. Will be very interesting to see the conclusion of this one! Really hard to tell what AMC is up to. Doesn't make any sense, however, Hilal is an interesting guy and have a very different negotiation style.
I am baffled by AMC's 500k offering. Either get out or get in or form an alliance but the offloading of 500k seems to be none of the above. They still have to file with the SEC, being above 5%, so they are not able to perform stealth strategies yet they are weakening any ability to influence buyout strategies either theirs or others----unless they already have a buyout strategy in the works with another entity and their shares are being "transferred" as part of that strategy. A dark horse in the race, not even entered at the post?
These are observed on what's called "Level 2". You should be able to request Level 2 from you electronic brokerage account...Fidelity, TD Ameritrade, Vanguard etc. They post the top Bid offers and the quantities and the lowest Ask offers and quantities.
