The 13D holder of MSN will NOT sit idle when the company is harboring cash and short term investments. Licensing takes up no working capital and the Walmart news means less working capital tied up. There are only two things the Company can do to enhance shareholder value and one is issue another special dividend or two buy back stock with the stock significantly under book value. My bet is a special dividend. The stock soared last time they did it and it will this time as well.
Couldn't they go with a quarterly dividend for more of a long term approach? I'm guessing some of the large owners would prefer a one time dividend, but they could easily make it a "permanent" thing at .05 or .10 per quarter.
They could do that but the 13D filer is more than likely not long term....The imbalance of cash versus stock price mandates a payout or a large stock buy back. If they dont there ill be a battle. I say pay it out and the stock will soar again.
