Why does BTU buy Auzi coal company

The reason BTU is buying the coal company in Auzi is very simple, it is a smart move to bet on Chinese coal consumption. BTU, together with BBL, actually owns the ports for loading coals from hunter valley to the cargoes. There were 2 loading sites in the past which almost satisfied daily operation for coal shipment to Japan and Korea. Starting 3 years ago, the coal price in China had raised to enough high, so Chinese started to buy coal from Auzi. The purchasing is somewhat limited due to the congest port facility. So local government authorized construction for 3rd port facility, which has just completed. The 4th one is also been granted to construction. The added port facility greatly increased the transportation capability for getting Auzi's coal out of the country. The Chinese companies had jumped on this opportunity and started to shop around for the coal companies in Auzi. They have reached some success and BTU's move is just a smart one to get a lion share of this added port capacity and demand of coal from China. Given the possibility of raising currency of RMB, Chinese will have more purchasing power so it is not a surprise more Auzi produced coal will be shipped to China, just like the iron ore biz. In fact it will follow the performance of iron ore industry. If you have seen how good the ore biz in Auzi., one will not hesitate to dive in and buy a piece of Auzi coal biz.
