    BTU versus Cost

All I want to know is the relative cost of coal, oil, and natural gas. I know there are differences in how they can be used. But cost is a big factor for some usage purposes. Please just check my math.

    • different coal has different BTU values....for instance anthracite is much higher BTU than another coal type...

for substitution purposes the numbers I've seen are NG and coal are priced around $14-$16 per barrel of West Texas crude at $106 range.

the principle of substitution applies....but there is a time lag and capital replacement issues associated with the substitution.

The delta is enourmously high.....maybe at an all time high. Thats why buying NG and BTU are such value plays at these yard sale prices.

Those with patience will be rewarded.
