It's just a political game. Where should they find another source of energy to replace coal? Natural gas, oil, solar, wind? Among them, natural gas is the most cost effective for now. But, natural gas production is not clean at all. It pollutes the water source. And worst, when everyone switch to gas, it will raise the gas price to a point that there is no economical sense to use it to generate electricity. Then what, switch back to coal? Remember awhile ago when the oil was peak, there was an eager to switch to ethanol, then pushed the corn price up, then food cost... Now what, oil goes over $100. Do any politician talk about the ethanol/solar anymore? It's political game that they can afford to play at this time when the energy demand is down due to China,US, EU slowdown.
He heard it on CNBC. That's exactly what Cramer, Weiss and and every expert on CNBC recommends. I believe that we haven't reached bottom but those who buy here will be very happy SOON. Coal will be around forever. I bought two bags of Kingsford Charcoal today. And I have NO emissions controls! Cooking out tonight.
