I've never owned cigarette stocks over the decades that I've been investing, yet I know that every time that they got banged down, with more government taxation per pack, larger and scarier warning labels, verifiable health problems related to smoking, higher health insurance premiums for smokers...these socially irresponsible companies continued to cash flow beautifully.
If you want to be a competitive industrial country, can you afford to turn your back on cheap coal? China says "NO". Germany says "NO". Japan says "we'll burn anything right now, because our nuke are dead, liquid natural gas is expensive, solar won't run Tokyo, and wind won't propel a Honda factory!"
