According to an unsubstantiated news report, there is a clause in the agreement that requires Beam to pay Suntory a penalty of some $400M+ to cancel the agreement. This amount is much too high but a penalty clause is a standard ploy in the give and take of pricing an M&A deal.
Well, I bought a few of the March 85 calls yesterday because they were so cheap (I got them for .10 apiece). Today, they were bid .15, ask .20. And the volume was more than 7,500 contracts. So it seems someone else (other than me) thinks there's a chance for another bidder. $95 a share, I hope.
