Even more interesting! Looks like I hit the nail on the head with the purchase in 1978. I will hold the stock but only with puts and reinvest the profits if the price of the stock drops. Not the most impressive of bubbles but the danger is all the same.
As a side note, the chart you show does not adjust the price for the MIR spinoff. Check out bigcharts.com and go to interative charting. Chose "all data" for the time frame. Looks like it could be a little climax run for SO.
I don't know, just trying to protect what has been a solid, no problem investment that has sweetened quite a bit very recently. The trend has broken on that move since 2000 so caution is the word of the day to me. granted, unless you sold MIR shortly after the spinoff the value presented in the chart is not represented in your shares.
