The present quote and size is $16.23- $16.25 1 by 4.. No one who wants to buy the stock is willing to pay $1623 but not $1625 for 100 shares. So the bid is fake. What's its purpose? I think the purpose is to mask a bid for a much larger quantity at a slightly lower price.
Even a small investor at e-trade can put in a bid for as many shares as they want, say 1,000, and have it show up as only a bid for 100 shares. So the "1" in the "1 by 4" doesn't not necessarily mean 1.
What I was saying was that there was more buying power behind the bid than was showing up, and the subsequent market action , an all-time new high, seems to have born out my conclusion. Of course, as A. M. put it, "the last temptation, the greatest treason, the right thing for the wrong reason."
